Silent Sundays.

Silent Sundays describes their clothing as 'a nod to the silent movies of the past; our clothes are meant for day-trips, simple adventures, and lazy Sundays. ' I'm not very well aquainted as of yet with the clothing itself, but I think if the Autumn/Winter 2011 Lookbook is anything to go by, hopefully it will be every bit as lovely and etheral as the pictures.

Dan Hillier - but not as you know him.

I first discovered UK based artist and Ruskin graduate, Dan Hillier, on a trip to Brick Lane Market with my boyfriend. He runs his stall at the Sunday Upmarket at the Old Truman Brewery selling in person his range of tote bags and t-shirts. He is perhaps best know for his graphic ink drawings which can only be described as a hybrid of the Victorian gentleman cross-bred with an octopus. Tentacles, antlers and horse-heads all make an appearance in these fantastically surreal pieces. But recently I've been more interested in his lesser known journals that document his travels in India and Nepal in 1997-8. The multi-layered effect of pen drawings, photographs, his personal musings, and newspaper cuttings makes for a visual feast. So if you find yourself in London's East End anytime soon do make sure to check him out.

Watercolour Illustrations by Agnes Cecile.

I really like the lived-in drips, paint specks and the overall painterly feel of these beautiful watercolours by artist, Agnes Cecile. Watercolour is one of my favourite mediums alongside ink (my go to for this is always Windsor & Newton) both due to the fluid, organic forms that you can create, which would be harder to render in acrylic or oil. Also due to transparency of watercolour you are more able to build up layers or rectify mistakes. There is something hugely satisfying about watching droplets of ink bleed and disperse out into water, which each time turn out differently from the last.

Aubin and Wills featuring Irina Lazareanu & Alex James.

A great follow-up of their A/W 2011 Lookbook featuring model and DJ, Leigh Lezark and The Libertines frontman, Carl Barat. I like the fact that this lookbook references both sides of the channel with a healthy dose of left-bank chic in the form of breton stripes, the classic trench and chambray sprinked with some quintessentially British Liberty print for good measure.
